And so this here is the first of August’s iterations of The Utility Poems, brought to you by our dwindling finances, sponsored by our household paychecks, and, for tonight, featuring Alabama Power (A Southern Company). And like all good electric companies in sweltering heat, they provide us with what we need (electricity for our espresso maker and DVD player) at $0.12/KWH, and, no, I did not immediately sob at our air conditioning cost; I was more of a cross between a whimper and a contemplative tear in the rain.
